Neal Martin - Wine Advocate

Quite a rich, seductive nose with lots of new oak. Lots of ripe blackberries and blueberries – opulent. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe saturated tannins, quite velvety in mouthfeel, very polished but good purity underneath. A sexy Saint Emilion 2007 – modern in style and undeniably well-crafted. Tasted April 2008.

2007 was the first year Cheval Blanc looked after every aspect of this wine. Very deep colour. Very round and supple without too dry a finish. Some tingle and life to this though not especially concentrated. Sweet and rich and velvety. Just a very slightly tough note on the finish, Very fine tannins. But not for the long term! 16/20

Jacques Dupont - Le Point

Fruits noirs, bouche ronde, joli fruit du cabernet franc, tanins souples. Pas trop d'extraction. Un vin simple et agréable, à boire jeune. 14/20
