Domaine Gramenon
Close
The Domaine Gramenon vineyards are located in the province of Drôme, in the village of Montbrison-sur-Lez. The Domaine stands in the most Northern part of the Côtes du Rhône area.
In 1990, Philippe Laurent and his wife Michele moved their young family to this Domaine and established the current winery, which encompasses some ancient vineyards, containing 100+ year old vines.
Their philosophy centres around minimal intervention practices, both in the vineyards and the winery. To that end, all viticultural work is carried out according to organic and biodynamic practices, and the wines are raised using natural yeasts and no additions.
With Philippe at the helm, Domaine Gramenon began to gain a following, with the international wine world falling in love with Philippe's concentrated and complex wines. Tragically, however, Philippe was killed in an accident in 1999, and Michele was left with a young family and vineyards and a winery to manage.
Rather than being cowed by her circumstances, Michele boldly took up the mantle of winemaker, and continued the traditions of Domaine Gramenon.
Today she is ably supported by her eldest son, Maxime Francois, and Domaine Gramenon continues to grow and enjoy the international success and cult-like status of its wines.
