The history of the Piazzo company began in the 1960s in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, a small hamlet in the municipality of Alba.
Armando Piazzo and Gemma Veglia are two young spouses who come from families of winemakers and who together decide to follow up on family traditions by investing in a special territory, that of the Langhe, at the time not yet renowned for its food and wine excellence.
Indeed, it was the land of Fenoglio's "La Malora", from which to escape due to the crisis facing the farming world after World War II, which, however, gives them the motivation and determination necessary to give life to the Piazzo Company.
Their foresight then leads them to invest in the grape that today is the basis of some of the most popular wines in the world: Nebbiolo.
Over the years, many are the lands that are purchased and converted to its production, up to 1979, when the first of those grapes in which so much trust had been placed and which would have carried the name of Barbaresco.
When the daughter Marina and her husband Franco support Armando and Gemma in the management of the company, they become passionate about this beautiful reality that is gradually consolidating, and with their enthusiasm they bring improvements that culminate in 1985 with the birth of the first Barolo, another reason for pride of the Piazzo family.
Along with fame, the area also grows which today has over 70 hectares entirely planted with vineyards, located largely close to the company but not only: Mango, Neviglie, Guarene and Novello are the municipalities where the other owned vineyards are located.
In 2007, the management of the company passed definitively to his daughter Marina who, together with Franco, tried to follow in the footsteps of their parents.
After a short time, Simone and Marco - the couple's children - also join the company and at the end of their studies at the "Umberto I" Enological School in Alba, they begin to integrate innovative ideas and techniques with the experience of previous generations.
This is how the philosophy of the Piazzo Company was created: eyes turned to the future and feet firmly in tradition, to produce wines that are the truest expression of it.
So much so that today the Piazzo Winery boasts the production of the most representative wines of the Langhe and Roero tradition: to the aforementioned Barbaresco and Barolo, we add Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba, Roero Arneis, Langhe Chardonnay, Moscato Asti and two most innovative products for the area, a classic method sparkling wine based on Nebbiolo “MasSìm” and a pure Merlot.
