The handprint of Seresin symbolises strength and the mark of the artisan. It also alludes to the hands-on approach this certified organic and bio-dynamic winery takes. Located in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough, it was founded by cinematographer Michael Seresin, who recently worked on the Harry Potter movies. Their first vintage was in 1996, and today are one of the most respected wineries in New Zealand.
Seresin sources fruit from its three estate vineyards covering a total of 111 hectares of certified organic vines. Planted to varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pino Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir, all fruit is hand-picked and hand-sorted before making its way to the winery.
You will find no Hogwarts trickery or strange potions here. Winemaker Clive Dougall prefers the minimal intervention approach. His aim is to make wines that are distinct and complex whilst maintaining a high level of quality each year. He makes wines in a new wave vein ranging from citrusy, textured and mineral Sauvignon Blanc to fleshy cherry and savoury Pinot Noir.
