Balnarring Vineyard and Quealy Wines

To say Kathleen Quealy is passionate about her wines would be an understatement! This pocket rocket of a woman puts her heart and soul into everything she does, and has a no nonsense attitude she carries through to her business. After founding T’Gallant wines, and selling it to Fosters, she was ready to go with her Quealy label in 2006. Located in the Mornington Peninsula, she has 8 hectares of vines planted to traditional and Italian varietals, such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Friulano. The Wine Styles Quealy likens her winemaking philosophy to a game of chess; she aims to make the right moves to get the most out of her region. She thinks outside the box to make unique styles from single varietals and through blending. Through all this passion and seriousness is a fun side to Kathleen evident through her wine names, like Pobblebonk and Rageous. Style wise, her wines range from crisp, textural whites through to sultry, plummy reds.
