Astrolabe

The name Astrolabe was chosen for this New Zealand winery after the French explorer Dumont D’urville’s boat. Winemaker Simon Waghorn enjoyed the connection between exploration and adventure that could just as easily be attribute to the pursuit of winemaking. Simon explores the potential of soil, vines and climate and takes all those who try his wines on a vinous adventure. Thanks to a minimalist approach in the winery, Simon Waghorn transforms the region's grapes into stylish and expressive wines that have a cult following. Astrolabe Location All fruit sourced for Astrolabe comes from the spectacular Waihopai Valley and from other specially chosen local vineyards in the Marlborough region. Astrolabe Wine Styles 80% of Astrolabe’s production is Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc as well as Pinot Noir, Dry Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer.
