Argyle Winery

Australia’s own Brian Croser played a role in establishing Argyle, and today it is the leading winery in the Willamette Valley, in Oregon, USA. It has turned out world-class wines, at the elegant end of the American spectrum, for almost 25 years and is particularly renowned for its Riesling and Pinot Noir. The Vineyards The Willamette Valley is a cool area with an undulating landscape. Argyle has three elevated, low yielding vineyards in the region: Knudsen, Stollar and Lone Star. The 120 acre Knudsen vineyard was the first to be planted in 1972 and 1974 with Stollar planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 1995, followed by the purchase of the 160 acre Lone Star in 1996. The Winemaker The wonderfully named Rollin Soles is winemaker at Argyle. He gained his winemaking credentials from the Davis University of California and sharped his skills at wineries in Australia, Switzerland and California. Since the beginning, he has been instrumental in reinventing the Oregon wine industry.
