Annie's Lane

Around the turn of the 20th century Annie Waymen was renowned for bringing warm drinks and sandwiches to local harvesters and pruners as they tirelessly worked the fields around the Clare Valley region. One particular night, Annie’s horse and cart got bogged in a lane by the boundary of a vineyard, which later became known as Annie’s Lane. Now owned by the Fosters Group, Annie’s Lane was launched in 1996 and is located at the heritage listed Quelltaler winery in South Australia’s Watervale. Dating back to 1863, it is the oldest winery in the Clare Valley and still manages to turn out quality wines, especially for Clare Valley classics Riesling and Shiraz although quality seems to have faded somewhat in recent years. Wines: From elegant whites to full-bodied reds, Annie’s Lane core range includes Shiraz, Cabernet Merlot, Riesling, Chardonnay, Rose, Moscato and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends. Sitting atop the Annie’s Lane portfolio are the Copper Trail range with the Shiraz and Riesling the most highly acclaimed.
